Infinite Green Energy (IGE) is pleased to report significant progress in delivering Western Australia’s first commercial-scale renewable hydrogen, including a hydrogen refuelling station, at its MEG HP1 project in Northam.
MEG HP1 builds on the existing 11MW Northam Solar Farm and is expected to produce up to 4 tonnes/day of renewable hydrogen for transport use from early 2024.
IGE has made significant progress by securing:
- All remaining land for the project, including additional land that provides the option to double production to 8 tonnes/day of renewable hydrogen.
- A site in the Northam commercial area which includes IGE offices, room for the proposed hydrogen refuelling station and storage for 8 hydrogen-powered trucks expected to use the facility for back-to-base operations.
The development of the hydrogen refuelling station is the initial project in a partnership between IGE and WA fuel distributor Refuel Australia. Refuel Australia is an Ampol distributor, 50 per cent owned by Ampol Australia, that operates 24-hour fuelling stations across WA and the NT.
IGE will partner with Refuel Australia to construct the Northam refuelling station which will then operate the facility as part of its network. Ian Burrows, Managing Director of Refuel Australia, welcomed the partnership with IGE.
